The Huntington Independent School District is a 3-A rural district nestled within 226 square miles of Angelina County that provides educational facilities and resources to meet the needs of more than 1617 students on five campuses. Huntington High School and Pride Alternative School have 496 students in grades nine through twelve. Huntington Middle School has 399 students in grades six through eight. Huntington Intermediate School has 225 students in grades four through five. Huntington Elementary School has 497 students in grades pre-kindergarten through three. Huntington ISD's location places it near several institutions of higher learning in the state: Stephen F. Austin State University is located 30 miles north in Nacogdoches. Angelina College is 10 miles north in Lufkin.

"The mission statement of the Huntington Independent School District is to instill a desire for excellence in preparing its students to become citizens who are able to make informed and intelligent choices between alternatives they will encounter during their lifetime. In collaboration with parents and community, the Huntington Independent School District will help students develop a desire for learning the skills to become contributing members of society."
